Nature’s Not To Be Missed
Register to be placed on the park district’s Amphibian Awakening Call List to witness the natural phenomenon of spring breeding behavior of wood frogs, spring peepers and possibly large salamanders as they move into woodland pools on a warm, rainy night sometime in early March through April.
Timed opportunities are filling quickly. The only 45-minute time slots with availability will meet at 10 p.m.
New this year, registration also includes the opportunity to attend a 45-minute-long virtual program at 7 p.m. Feb. 11 using the free software Zoom. A link will be sent to registrants.
When weather conditions bring amphibians to their breeding pools, naturalists will make the call to host in-person experiences. Expect a phone call in the late afternoon on the day of the program. A flashlight will be required to participate.
