Senior citizens who live in one of the townships or city listed below and have unwanted items that need to be picked up at their homes may sign up for trash pick-up days.

- Geauga Library Lobby Stop: Oct. 3, 12:30-2 p.m.
- Dementia Presentation: Oct. 5, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dr. Mary Shaffer, dementia training specialist, will present “Preventing Dementia – It’s Never Too Late” at Mapleview Country Villa, 775 South St., Chardon. Call the center to register.

- VA Benefits: Oct. 9, 11 a.m. to noon. A speaker from Geauga County Veterans Services Commission will present “Knowing Your VA Benefits.”

Senior Trash Pick-Up Days
Senior citizens who live in one of the townships or city listed below and have unwanted items that need to be picked up at their homes may sign up for trash pick-up days.
Register with the Geauga County Department on Aging (GDA) by the cut-off day or earlier. Once registered, seniors can be placed on the trash pick-up roster. To receive trash pickup assistance, one must be 60 years of age or older and live in the township or city holding the pickup.
Middlefield Township: Oct. 5. Register by Sept. 28.
Chester Township: Oct. 15-17. Register by Oct. 8.
TheDepartment on Aging can no longer go into homes to pick up unwanted items. Refuse will be collected from seniors’ garages, out buildings and drives. There is a limit of 10 household items per home; small items may be consolidated in strong boxes.
For specific allowable trash guidelines or to register for the pickup, call the Department on Aging weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 440- 279-2129 or 440-279-2130. When signing up for pickup, please have a list of items that need to be removed.
Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP
Oct. 2, 1 p.m.
Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP Chapter 4527 will meet at the Bainbridge Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Road.
There will be a brief meeting following the program on famous American women, with Carol Starre-Kmiecik portraying Dorothy Fuldheim, Cleveland journalist, author and lecturer.
Please bring in donations of food staples and paper products for the Food For Friends food pantry and dry and canned dog food, blankets and hot dogs for the Geauga Dog Shelter. Monetary donations are welcome.
