The Geauga County Department on Aging will offer a free traditional meal to any Geauga County seniors, age 60 and older, who will be home and alone on Christmas Day, Dec. 25.

SENIOR CENTER EVENTS

Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Chardon, 440-279-2130.

  • Blood Pressure Screenings: Mondays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Free screenings provided by Geauga Health Department.
  • Geauga Sweet Strings Dulcimer: Dec. 11, 1-1:45 p.m. Performance is open to all.
  • Cooking Demo: Dec. 12, noon. Heather Hill will feature a healthy holiday meal. Call the center to RSVP.

Middlefield Senior Center, 15820 Ridgewood Drive, Middlefield, 440-632-0611.

  • Chair Exercises: Monday through Friday, 9:15-10 a.m. – Class combines stretching, cardio and resistance bands.
  • Pay it Forward: Dec. 12, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Help thank the volunteers that drive Home Delivered Meals in the Geauga County by creating a personal gift for each of them. All supplies provided and no experience is necessary.

  • Monthly Cooking Demo: Dec. 11, 11 a.m. to noon. Lorina will demonstrate simple decorating techniques for Christmas cookies. Recipes and samples are included. Free. Call to RSVP.
  • Edward Jones Stock Seminar: Dec. 11, 12:30-2 p.m. Steve Mrozek, of Edward Jones Investments, will present “Strengthen Your Stock Savvy” and provide lunch. Registration is required.
  • All About Food Talk: Dec. 13, 12-3 p.m. Ame, from DaBoros Fresh Healthy Foods, will talk about fresh, healthy and affordable foods and make lunch. After lunch, the group will travel by bus to the Bainbridge Heinen’s store for a detailed tour by Carol from the Wellness Department. Each participant will receive samples to take home. Registration is required; cost is $6.

Home Delivered Holiday Meals

The Geauga County Department on Aging will offer a free traditional meal to any Geauga County seniors, age 60 and older, who will be home and alone on Christmas Day, Dec. 25.

There will be no regular Home Delivered Meal delivery or congregate meals on Dec. 25. Instead, holiday meals are available by preorder only.

Christmas Day meal requests are due by Dec. 17.

HEAP Talk

Dec. 14, 11 a.m. to noon

Natalie Pajk will be at the West Geauga Senior Center to provide an informational talk on the Home Energy Assistance Program(HEAP). Anyone interested in applying for HEAP or needing help getting started may join to learn more.
