The Geauga County Commissioners passed a resolution May 28 recognizing Elder Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month and highlighting the ongoing work of adult protective services in the community. Kristina Miller, APS supervisor for Geauga County Job and Family Services, has been recognized nationally as a leader in the field, said JFS Executive Director Craig Swenson. APS investigates reports of abuse, neglect, self-neglect and exploitation involving adults age 60 and older, Miller said, noting the agency has investigated 134 cases in 2025. Of those cases, 75 involved self-neglect, which is typically the most common reason for investigation each year, she said....
