After a brain tumor diagnosis and burnout from a high-pressure legal career, Jacqueline O’Brien chose a path focused on healing — herself and others.
The Mayfield Village resident opened Boho Healing in Chester Township in April 2025, transforming her personal health crisis into a holistic wellness space designed to support those seeking balance beyond traditional medicine.
“A lot of attorneys suffer from addiction, mental health issues … and I found myself feeling sick and decided to pivot and move into healing,” she recalled Dec. 18. “I wanted to serve other people who’ve gone through similar things.”
O’Brien was diagnosed with a skull tumor and underwent brain surgery in 2010, she said, adding doctors were initially unable to locate the tumor.
During the time between her diagnosis and treatment, O’Brien began exploring “other healing modalities” to support her well-being, including reiki, which she had been practicing for several years before becoming certified, she said.
O’Brien became certified as a reiki master and teacher in 2018, deciding this past year she wanted to expand her reach to help others in similar situations.
At Boho Healing, 12550 Chillicothe Road, O’Brien provides a variety of resources to support cancer patients, those with physical injuries and everyday people, she said.
Services include reiki, a Japanese energy healing practice; intuitive energy healing; sound baths; yoga; immersion breathwork; and growth mindset and spiritual coaching, O’Brien said.
These offerings aim to help reduce stress and anxiety, support emotional balance, lower fatigue and improve mental clarity, as well as boost immunity, she said.
O’Brien also partakes in many of these services herself, as part of her own well-being, she added.
“Seeing Chesterland as it’s been developing, I just wanted to offer something different than the typical yoga studio,” she said. “(This is) more of a holistic wellness business that’s intimate and that fits in with the community.”
Classes — which are half off from Jan. 1 to March 1 in 2026 — range from $20 to $300, offering both individual and small group sessions.
Class schedules are posted online from month-to-month and Boho Healing is open throughout the week by appointment only.
