A May 28 recount by the Geauga County Board of Elections confirmed Joe DeBoth as the Republican nominee for Geauga County auditor, defeating incumbent Auditor Chuck Walder. According to the county’s final certified election results, DeBoth received 5,999 votes to Walder’s 5,995, a four-vote margin that triggered an automatic recount. On May 22, the board selected precincts in Newbury Township C, Burton Village, Auburn Township D and Russell Township E for a hand recount.
