OSBA Honor Roll Recognition
On May 11, the Berkshire Board of Education and Superintendent Doug DeLong recognized four Geauga County businesses/agencies for their con-tributions to high school students. Each person and the company/agency he or she represented participated in the career days throughout the school year.
The Geauga Growth Partnership and local school districts have worked together over the last three years creating career day programs. Interviewing skills, soft skills, resume writing and the proper use of social media have been the topics that educators and businessmen and women have covered.
In all 13, Geauga County businesses received the Ohio School Boards Association Honor Roll recognition from Berkshire. These include Troy Chemical, Upwards Solutions, W.S. Tyler, Geauga County United Way, Geauga Credit Union, Kent State Geauga Campus, Great Lakes Cheese, Sand Ridge Golf Club, Arms Trucking Company, Huntington Bank, Company 119, Hexpol-Burton Rubber Processing, Hexpol-Gold Key Processing and The Geauga Growth Partnership (GGP). Without the GGP’s leadership and commitment, the career days would not be possible.
Math Counts
On May 11, at the regular meeting of the board of education, sixth-grade math teacher Janet Duns and her Math Counts students made several presentations involving math problems and ways to increase math computation skills.
The school district is very proud of all the students and their presentations. Special thanks goes to Mrs. Duns for helping the students their math skills.
