CCP Bio Lab
Students taking college biology taught by high school teacher Ben Clutter have been doing some interesting work in their labs. Josiah Z., Justin D., Anna B. Sierra B., Katie S. and Terryan M. recently prepared bacterial cultures that have undergone genetic transformation. Students inoculated the petri dishes to determine if the bacteria absorbed the genetic plasmid and to determine if the bacteria have taken on the genetic properties the plasmid should provide.
Sound Lab
Third-graders wrapped up their study of energy with sound energy experiments in the CIS science lab. First, students watched the different sound waves from various instruments on the oscilloscope. Next, students used materials from their teacher’s recycling bin and other materials to make instruments. Last, student got to play their instruments and watch the sound waves their instruments created. They really enjoyed seeing how everyday items created sound.
