GGP Interns

Four Cardinal High School students are part of the 22 students countywide that have accepted offers for paid internships with the Geauga Growth Partnership summer program. Juniors Michael L. and Josiah Z. are both working at Mercury Plastics, graduate Kaylee Klepper is working at ASM Educational Foundation and junior Abby G. is working at Metzenbaum Sheltered Industries.

Students were matched with their internships following a lengthy application, workshop and interview period. All of them are excited for the experiences they’re going to have and look forward to using some of the money they’ll earn to save towards college.

Science Day

At the end of the every school year, science consultant Claire Zurbuch, also known as Professor Z., gets his best experiments together for the first-graders so that each activity they do encompasses something they have learned throughout the year. This year, science day took place in the new science lab.

With the help of fourth-grade student teachers Elli D., Emily P., Olivia K., Capri B., Nova Y. and Ivy K., students traveled to six different stations to watch science concepts come to life. Students worked in small groups to move a golf ball with simple machines; mark sound waves on paper with a tuning fork and pen; complete an electrical circuit; view pond critters under the microscope; discover how light changes an image in a kaleidoscope; and see sound waves on an oscilloscope. The first-graders enjoy the lab so much every year and the fourth-grade teachers always do a great job of helping them out at each station.
