9/11 Commemorations

Students at both Jordak Elementary School and Cardinal Middle School held observances on Sept. 11 to commemorate the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Members of Scout Troop 3141 in Middlefield and Troop 7046 from Parkman led flag-raising ceremonies at both schools. Students at both schools also recited the Pledge of Allegiance and heard some words regarding the events of that day in 2001.

At JES music teacher Joel Kithcart sang the national anthem and CHS student Anthony L. also played “Taps.” A wreath was laid at the base of the flagpole by the Middlefield VFW Post 9678 to honor those who lost their lives in the attacks.

The school district appreciates the time both Scout troops, the VFW, first responders from the Middlefield police and fire departments and military personnel took to help students and staff honor those who lost their lives.
