Geology Rocks
Third graders recently spent a day at the West Woods learning more about the local topography from Geauga Park District naturalists. The visit goes along with lessons currently being learned in their classroom on geology, fossils and earth resources.
While at the West Woods, students investigated the sedimentary rock cycle’s role in the formation of local bedrock, topography and fossils. They utilized a stream table and got up close looks at various rock samples and geology exhibits. They followed the indoor activities with a hike to Ansel’s Cave to view geologic and human features of a major bedrock outcropping.
