COSI Visits Jordak
COSI Columbus’ Dynamic Hands-On Science Center visited Jordak Elementary School Feb. 13 and 14. Their presentation and experiments were focused on chemistry. Students took part in a short assembly to explain the science behind chemistry and then each grade level got a turn to come back to the gym to participate in the various experiments that were set up.
They used microscopes to identify powders, compared/identified chemical and physical changes, wrote secret messages using ink and washing soda, mixed solids and liquids to produce gas, explored pH ranges, experienced chemical reactions, investigated density and created slime. All experiments were led and supervised by PTO volunteers, parents and high school students. The elementary school students really enjoyed seeing the science close up and participating in the exciting experiments.
100 Days Of School
It’s everyone’s favorite milestone – 100 days of school. Even though the actual 100th day was back in January, the kindergarten and first-grade students marked the big day on Feb. 14 by dressing up and completing activities involving the number 100. Teachers really got into the spirit, too, and came up with some amazing outfits. Students have also been working hard on their 100 day projects, which are all proudly on display in the halls of Jordak Elementary School.
