Opinion Featured On NewsDepth

Fourth-grader Ella M. had her opinion featured on the WVIZ/PBS ideastream program “NewsDepth” the week of Oct. 19. The program asked students to share how they would turn their hobby into a business and Ella had her opinion featured during the program.

Ella says, “My hobby is to make dresses. To turn my hobby into a business, I would first send a picture to friends and they would send my picture to someone else. When people hear about it and contact me, I would mention that my dresses can be delivered or picked up. Then, finally I would make a video about my dresses and do a little fashion show. That is how I would make my hobby into a career.”

Students Spread Halloween Spirit

Though cold and different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual Halloween parade from Jordak Elementary School to Briar Hill Health Care continued on. The students were so excited to be able to wear their costumes and parade down to the facility. Students wore masks, kept their distance, stayed outside the facility and walked around the building waving at residents at the windows.

Every year, the students look forward to spreading some Halloween spirit to the community with their parade down Pierce Street. When students returned to their classrooms at Jordak, they all had doughnuts waiting for them courtesy of Maggie’s Donuts. The costumes were awesome and all of the kids looked great in them.
