Jordak PTO Had Eventful Year

Jordak Elementary School PTO had a wonderful school year and would like to share some of its activities with the community. Everyone was excited to be back in the school with the students and teachers.

The PTO hosted its annual Halloween Trunk or Treat and Holiday Headquarters, which gave students a chance to shop for their loved ones and bring home a special gift. And the PTO was excited to support the school in taking the students on field trips again. From the Middlefield Library to Wagon Trails, the kids were able to get out and explore the world.

Another exciting event the PTO put on this year was a raffle in which Jordak’s amazing teachers donated their time and skills, and the children were able to buy tickets and bid for them. It was a huge hit, with prizes like a cake decorating class, an afterschool movie, and even dyeing a teacher’s hair. The PTO put on apparel sales, its beloved book fair, and Family Literacy Month, which gives children of different ages the chance to come together and experience the same story as a group. The PTO provided books, decorations and a school pet – a hamster named Humphrey. After one third-grade class put in a request, the PTO was able to create a Buddy Bench for any student who feels alone to a have a place to sit and let other children know s/he needs a friend.

Grandparents Day was a success with a craft, donuts, a photographer and lots of laughs. The school was able to show teachers how much they are valued with Teacher Appreciation week, where the PTO provided food and raffled off prizes.

The eventful year wrapped up with Field Day, which is a favorite of the students. They had so many games and everyone enjoyed slushies. The PTO had the bittersweet task of saying farewell to the oldest students at fourth-grade graduation with a special ceremony. Thanks to a generous donation, each child was sent home with a T-shirt to commemorate the day.

It was a great school year and none of it would have been possible without the support of the community. There are so many people and businesses to thank. The PTO hopes the community will consider supporting those who have supported the school, teachers and students.

In no particular order, the Jordak PTO extends its gratitude for the generosity of the following: Jordak Student Council for rising to the occasion whenever they were needed and providing help; the Jordak cafeteria and staff for their donation of lunches and slushies; everyone who set up to hand out candy for Trunk or Treat; NuThreadz Apparel; Maggie’s Doughnuts; Urban Growers Garden Center; Friends of Mike; The Bus Stop food truck; all the vendors and donors from Holiday Headquarters; Leary Studio; Breezewood Gardens and Gifts, Ubuntu Wellness, Taproot Yoga and Buckeye Chocolate Café for supporting the teachers; Sunrise Farm; D&S Produce; Heritage Meats; El Patron; Frost Bar and Grill; JC’s; Coffee Corners; Jennifer’s Hair Obsession; John’s Country Nursery; West Center Sweet Treats; and Ripley Tree Service. And, of course, a huge thank-you to all of the volunteers. It was a fantastic year, and the PTO cannot wait to support Jordak Elementary and the community again next year.
