Realeyes Education Program
Funny tongue twisters and talking puppets help drive home important eye care lessons for elementary students. Recently, an optician from Geauga Vision came to Jordak Elementary School and spoke to each class about the importance of eye health using the Realeyes classroom education program.
Created by the Ohio Optometric Association, Realeyes includes four standardized, interactive, age-appropriate lessons to help children better understand eye anatomy, safety, and disorders. Characters like “Sammy Safe Eyes,” “Rhett and Tina” and “Vinny Vision” helped students identify parts of the eye, learn how to protect their eyes and understand why good vision is important. Students also received take home information with various activities.
Rotary Club Donates Dictionaries
Third-graders are off and learning new words thanks to our friends at the Rotary Club of Burton Middlefield. Every year the Rotary Club donates dictionaries to third-graders in the area.
As they do each year, Rotarians spoke to the kids about serving the community and then helped them learn how to use their dictionaries. Cardinal is always so grateful for their time and kindness and the students love to be able to learn new things on their own.
CHS NHS Tapping
An exciting surprise for 20 Cardinal High School students on Nov. 30 as they were tapped to join the National Honor Society. Current NHS members pulled the newly selected members out of class under a guise that they were needed for something else. They were then led to the Distance Learning Lab for a special brunch where they were informed that they had been selected to NHS.
New members include: Jacob R., Jordyn G., Todd W., Hanna T., Ella R., Benjamin L., Ashley G., Adriana N., Emily S., Jordan W., Camille C., James A., Faith P., Morgan S., Kailyn F., Jonathan H., Jonathan H., Ashleigh D., Kathryn F. and Grace B.
