Mobile Dentist Returns May 10
Cardinal Schools are once again partnering with Ohio Dental Outreach to offer in-school dental care. A state licensed dentist will be on site at Jordak Elementary School on May 10 to provide a cleaning, x-rays as necessary, fluoride treatment and apply sealants, as needed. Additional care, such as fillings, may also be provided.
A dental report card will be sent home with the child. Information came home with students prior to spring break about the program and how to schedule an appointment.
For more information, contact the Jordak health aide Courtney Schroeter at 440-632-0261 ext. 2003.
Students Matter
Students matter and they are matter. Third-graders in Miss Tropf’s class recently completed lessons on the three states of matter. Mass is one of the properties of matter. To help students better understand the properties, they participated in a lab where they measured the mass of items using balance scales and gram weights. Students weighed their classroom items, tipping the scales with everything from crayons, coins and glue bottles.
Graphing Goodies
Kindergarten students in Mrs. Ashley Derecskey’s class have been working on graphing. On April 9, students got an actual taste of the skill by using Skittles.
Students had to sort the candies by color and then graph how many they had in their piles. After students finished their graphs, they compared their results with those of their peers. To finish the lesson, they answered questions about their colorful graphs and even tasted a few of those Skittles.
