JES Teacher Accepted Into GE Education Program
Jordak Elementary School teacher Sue Becker has been accepted into the GE Additive Education Program for the 2018-19 school year. The program received over 3,000 applications from 41 countries for its second year class.
As part of the program, Mrs. Becker will receive a 3D printing classroom package from Polar 3D that includes a 3D printer. Though training, she will learn how to use the software and hardware and then teach her students how to use it as well. It will become part of a “maker space” in the library so students can design new things.
Maker spaces were new in the JES library during the 2017-18 school year. There were five stations and at each station, students were presented with a task such as building a bridge. Then, they let their imaginations and creativity take over using the materials provided.
Last year, students experimented, created, learned about and made different things using Legos, Play-Doh, magnets and paper cups, among other things.
