PBIS Award Winners
For the third year in a row, Cardinal Schools are being recognized by the state for their Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) efforts. The Ohio PBIS network and State Support Team 4 announced which schools in Lake and Geauga counties received recognition awards on Aug. 22.
In the district, Jordak Elementary School is just one of seven to receive the prestigious gold medal. Cardinal Middle School is also one of seven schools receiving a silver medal and Cardinal High School is one of just 12 schools to receive a bronze medal. Cardinal also learned that the district as a whole is one of three in the area receiving a district PBIS implementation award, which is the first time this award is being given out.
The district will be recognized for its efforts at the 2018 Ohio PBIS Showcase in Columbus on Nov. 29-30. Cardinal is so proud of its staff, students and families for supporting these efforts.
HOF Inductees To Be Honored
On Sept. 22 at Shangri-La in Garrettsville, the district will induct seven new members into the Cardinal High School Athletic and Distinguished Alumni Halls of Fame. This year’s athletic inductees are Paul Porter, Kenny Bevington, Rebekah Shipman and Nick Adams. The distinguished alumni include medical professional Marcella Ann Trybus Tabor, film producer Terrance J. White Jr. and broadcaster Elizabeth Noreika.
In addition to the dinner, inductees will also be recognized during school events on Sept. 21. Several members will speak to high school students during a special assembly at the end of the day. Following the assembly, inductees and a guest will be treated to dinner and then recognized at midfield prior to the football game against Wickliffe. Congratulations to all of the new inductees.
