Halls Of Fame Inductions
On Sept. 22, seven Cardinal High School alumni were inducted into the Distinguished Alumni and Athletic Halls of Fame. Cardinal was honored to have six of the seven members of the 2018 class attend a special induction dinner at Shangri-La. The inductees had someone of their choosing introduce them, and then inductees gave speeches on what the honor meant to them.
The 2018 Athletic Hall of Fame inductees include Nick Adams ‘03, Kenny Bevington ‘05, Paul “Chip” Porter ‘87 and Rebekah Shipman ‘01.
Distinguished Alumni inductees include Elizabeth Norieka ‘02, Marcella Ann Trybus Tabor ‘77 and Terrance J. White Jr. ‘91.
In addition to the dinner on Saturday, inductees were also honored prior to kickoff at Friday night’s varsity football game.
Adams, Shipman and White also attended a special assembly at the high school on Friday afternoon to speak to students about their time at Cardinal and how it prepared them for where they are now. The trio spent a lot of time after the assembly talking to students who had additional questions. Congratulations to all of the inductees on their outstanding accomplishments.
Science Lab Discovery Experiment
Third-graders have been studying the purpose of different animal body parts and how those parts help animals survive. Birds all have beaks, but why are the beaks different shapes? To find the answers, Ms. Tropf’s classes visited the new science lab and conducted experiments using everyday items like pliers, strainers, skewers and many more to eat like a bird would. Students were able to discover that birds have to have the right kind of beak to eat the food that they do or they would not survive. Great work and discovery everyone!
