Rockets Blast Off

Mr. Dave Bronson is up to his usual tricks in eighth-grade science. Recently, he blasted off water rockets to finish a lesson on terminal velocity and gravity. Students created the rockets out of recycled materials, including pop bottles, folders and cardboard boxes, and then Mr. Bronson hooked them up for launch.

Students used the time of the rocket launch to measure for height (apex) and velocity of impact. The overall best rocket was constructed by Kyle S. and Cameron P. Their masterpiece traveled 416 feet in the air and hit with a velocity of around 145 miles per hour. The second place rocket was constructed by Paxton M. and Slater C. Rounding out the top three were Ana F. and Audrey A.
