NHS Members Inducted

Congratulations to the newest members of the Cardinal High School National Honor Society. The 2016-17 class was inducted on Dec. 16.

Family members escorted students into the gym, where they received flowers and their NHS pin. Current NHS members and officers spoke about the purpose and emblem of NHS and lit candles while speaking about the four pillars of NHS, which include scholarship, character, leadership and service. Following comments from guest speaker, history teacher Brian George, inductees took the NHS oath and were officially sworn in as new members.

New members include: Virginia T., Megan M., Madelyn D., Alexandria K., Anna A., Emily K., Brendan W., Hayden C., Joseph B. and Nicholas S. They join current officers: Julia M., president; Dawn S., vice president; Erin R., secretary; Megan T., treasurer; and members: Allissa N., Emily N., Jessica S., Megan B., Jordyn S. and Madison P. Congratulations!

PTO Hosts Lip Sync Battle

Just before the Christmas break, the CMS PTO hosted a Lip Sync Battle together in conjunction with a PBIS assembly. All students in grades 5-8 who had all assignments completed were able to attend and participate in the afternoon’s activities.

Nineteen individuals or groups performed a variety of songs, including one performance by teachers David Bronson, Luke Kruse, Daniel Cappelucci, Margaret Karg and Elisabeth Robinson. The group sang “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor.

Keep up the great positive behavior in the second half of the year.

Students Rewarded With Breakfast

Eighth-graders in Mr. Bronson’s third period class were recently treated to a homemade breakfast. The meal was a reward for their efforts on a summative assessment on static and magnetism.

The assessment was set up to mimic Olympic events so each student in the group could show his or her individual strength, thus earning team points.  The top team in each of the three classes was rewarded with breakfast. Each team was also named after famous individuals associated with electricity, static or magnetism.

First period winners were John K. and Jerry R. Second period winners were Sam L., Micah G. and Gavin R. Third period winners were Keshawn K., Baylei C. and Catherine H.
