Sweets And Science Lessons

On Feb. 14, sixth-graders were given several different food items representing the various organelles or cell structures found in plant and animal cells to construct an edible cell model. The activity helped them learn more about the different parts of a cell and their functions.

Cells are the fundamental unit of life. All living things are composed of cells. Different body tissues and organs are made of different kinds of cells. The way cells function is similar in all living organisms.

Hidden Treasures Discovered

The search for hidden treasure is on at Cardinal High School. Students have been studying vectors, which represent both a direction and magnitude in Mrs. Ruth Russell’s physics class.

To get some experience both creating and reading vectors, students made maps. The students worked in groups and made maps that showed the vectors of how they should move around the school to find the treasure. They then switched maps and followed another group’s vectors to find a treasure.

CMS Paw Pride Winners

Congratulations to the CMS Paw Pride winners for the week ending Feb. 10: fifth-graders Casey K. and Ian W.; sixth-graders Tyler O. and Katlyn P.; seventh-graders Brett B. and Zander R.; and eighth-graders John K. and Joseph S. Way to go everyone; keep up the good work.
