Retirement Open House

The Park Elementary School PTO and Sunshine Committee invite the community to attend a retirement open house on Chardon Square in celebration of a well-known, Chardon-proud and friendly face of leadership for Park Elementary — Miss Rhonda Garrett. Principal Garrett will retire from Chardon Schools at the end of the school year.

Garrett has been a dedicated faculty and administrative member of the district for 38 years — 10 years teaching and more recently 28 years leading as the Park Elementary principal.

The open house event in her honor will be held on May 24 from 5-7 p.m. at the Heritage House on 111 East Park St.

Park Elementary parents and staff look forward to celebrating Miss Garrett’s Park Elementary legacy with fellow families and staff, as well as alumni and community members. All are welcome to attend this public event.

Kindergarten Meets Chardon Library

Chardon Early Learning Center kindergarten students enjoyed a Geauga County Public Library – Chardon spring tradition in May — receiving their first library card, a free “Frog and Toad” book and a Rascal Reader stuffed animal if they visited the library.

For Rascal Reader day, students created in the CELC classroom one of the stories from the book and retold the story with “Frog and Toad” characters.

CELC kindergarten teacher Amy Ridgeway stated, “Thank you to Chardon Public Library for their continued partnership in reading education and congratulations to our Tiny Toppers on receiving their library cards. Education and the ability to read is a precious gift.”
