Students Pave the Way

Chardon High School students were at it once again – making the world a better place one important step at a time. On Aug. 20, students from the school’s Rotary Interact Club, commonly known as Interact, teamed up with students from other CHS service organizations to clean up the stretch of state Route 44 from the State Highway Patrol base to Clark Road. In all, the group of students dedicated to this project totaled 14.

Interact, which was founded in 1962 by Rotary International, is modeled after Rotary International’s “Service Above Self” and 4-Way Test:Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good will and better friendships? andWill it be beneficial to all concerned?

The cleanup project was spearheaded and coordinated by Eric Hollinger, a member of The Rotary Club of Chardon. This particular roadside project is hosted by Rotary several times each year.

Rob Mizen is a CHS biology teacher who is highly involved in the school’s Interact Club, as well as a facilitator for the school’s chapter of the Actively Caring for People movement.

“Chardon students are awesome,” said Mizen. “They are always working behind the scenes serving our great community.”
