First-graders in Mrs. Kaitlyn’s Shahidian’s class are learning new reading skills. During Readers Workshop, students learn a new skill, practice it with a partner and then practice it independently.
They recently learned to “take a sneak peek” and look through the book to get an idea of what it is about before they start reading.
Classmates will then talk to one another and make predictions based on the pictures before they begin reading. An adventure awaits them on every page.
