Timmons Lunch Bunch

Congratulations to Timmons Elementary School students selected for Lunch Bunch honors in April.

Kindergartners honored with “honesty” awards were Lucas Balderson, Carter Bring, Violet Bryan, Maxwell Gravatt, Olive Hanson, George Koterba, Maxime Schaden, Nella Schmitz and Meeka Sutton. First-graders honored were Armani Bassett, Clara Gould, Trace Lastoria, Lucas Rauber, Derek Torrelli, Andrew Yokiel and Sylvia Zuccaro.

Second-graders were William Ayyappan, Shelby Feathers, Kamdyn Gardner, Andrew Lawrence, Brynn McBride, Bradley Rabe, Matthew Stebel and Bane Wenger. Third-graders were Luca Cuffari, William Dillon, Emily Fender, Gavin Francis-Yuhas, Maisie McCabe, Jack Pease and Nolan Zent.

KIS Students of the Month

Kenston Intermediate School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month for April. Students selected for “honesty” awards were fourth-graders Ivy Browne, Bowen Hudson, Joshua Klar, Ayla Lewandowski, Owen Miller, Elliott Pealer, Lucy Speed, Isabella Walters and Libby Worsdall; and fifth-graders Rachel Aderibigbe, Olivia Boehnlein, Amelie DeBoth, Carden Gulliver, Edward Hoffman, Niko Krooglik, Cate Martin, Eloise Mulheman, Brody Pealer, Marshall Rankin and Piper Robertson.

Science Olympians Place 8th

Kenston’s High School Science Olympiad teams places eighth at the Division B and C state tournament. Individuals placing in their events were: Ben Fink and Michael Thompson – Food Science, second place; Sam Koltas and Mason Miller – Bridge, third place; Michael Thompson and Samantha Worsdall – Meteorology, third place; Lindsey Myshrall and Viktoriya Taran – Write It, Do It, fourth place; Luke Gulas and Cooper Timmons – WiFi Lab, fifh place; Maddie Worsdall and Viktoriya Taran – Cell Bio, fifth place; Sam Koltas & Mason Miller – It’s About Time, sixth place; Maddie Worsdall and Ava Intelisano – Ornithology, sixth place; and Ben Fink and Michael Thompson – Write It Do It, sixth place.

Kenston Cooks

Kenston’s Nutrition Services Department in conjunction with Play Blue and the Health and Wellness Committee hosted the annual Kenston Cooks competition. Ten chefs in kindergarten through fifth grade prepared and plated a healthy meal in 40 minutes.

Grand champion entries were June Snavely’s Banana Pancakes, Anya Baum’s Egg Muffins and Stella Henry’s Bomber Baked Cheese Quesadilla with Guacamole.

KHS Named a “Best” High School

U.S. News and World Report 2022 Best High Schools highlighted Kenston as one of the top-performing public schools in Ohio and the country. Kenston ranked sxith in northeast Ohio, 26th in the state and 682nd nationally. Congratulations to the students, staff and community.

“The recognition by U.S. News and World Report as a Best High School is always an honor. It recognizes the efforts and achievements of our students and reinforces the outstanding work of our teachers. Our Student Achievement goal is driven by the criteria analyzed from national and state data and other statistics. I congratulate our students for their accomplishments and our educators for providing them with an engaging,  innovative and experiential education,” said Principal Tom Gabram.

The rankings are based on state assessments in math and reading, graduation rates and how well students are prepared for college – using Advanced Placement test data as the benchmark for success. It shows the high school’s focus on college and career readiness.

After Prom Preview

The Kenston community is invited to preview AfterProm May 7 from 8 – 10 p.m. at Kenston High School.

AfterProm is a long standing tradition at Kenston to provide a supervised party for juniors and seniors after the prom. Community volunteers have worked all year to offer this safe and memorable event for students.

Kenston Conversations

Kenston residents are invited to join the superintendent and members of the administrative team at upcoming in-person community opportunities to share a cup of coffee and talk about what is happening at Kenston Schools.

Mark the calendar for May 11 from 9-10 a.m. at Two Cafe and May 17 from 5-6 p.m. at Sirna’s Pizza in Auburn Township.

Kenston Local Schools are committed to locating, identifying and evaluating all students with disabilities from age 3 through 22.
