Academic All American Named
Senior Eden Truax was named a National Speech and Debate Association Academic All American.
The award is earned by less than 2 percent of those competing in speech and debate. The Academic All American award recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding character and leadership, earned the NSDA degree of Superior Distinction and received excellent grades during high school.
Harvesting the Herb Garden
The Creating Exceptional Character Club members completed the final harvest in the Kenston Sensory Garden. They harvested, packaged and delivered basil, apple mint, chocolate mint, chives, lemon thyme and parsley for the high school nutrition services department and to fill staff orders.
Fill the Food Pantry
At the football game against Mayfield on Oct. 21, spectators are invited to bring canned goods and staples to help fill the local food pantries. Donations will be collected outside the stadium.
Family Ties Night
Kenston believes in the importance of family; it is the single most important influence in a child’s life, which is why the district strives to nurture and build relationships between family and school. Some of the researched benefits of spending time together regularly as a family include increased academic success, reduced substance abuse and strengthening the family bond.
On Nov. 3, the entire school district will participate in Family Ties. Family Ties Nights are evenings with no homework assigned, no athletic practices or games after 5:30 p.m. and no meetings or activities hosted in the district.
Kenston is asking local restaurants and businesses to partner with it by offering a special discount on one of its Family Ties – No Homework Nights. Please consider extending a discount or offer. Companies that choose to participate will have their offers publicized in district publications, their information shared via the school district’s social media channels and will receive signage to display as a participating business.
If interested, please contact Katy McGrath, director of community relations, at 440-543-9677 ext. 1400.
Military Wall of Honor
The Kenston Alumni Association, in partnership with the district, has created a Military Wall of Honor. It was unveiled on Veterans Day 2018. The association continues to add graduates as their information is submitted.
The community is proud of its brave and selfless service members who graduated from Auburn, Bainbridge or Kenston high schools and wish to recognize their service on behalf of the United States of America with a program titled the Kenston School District Military Wall of Honor.
To submit information to honor graduates and/or employees who are active or veterans of the United States Armed Forces, visit kenstonlocal.org and search Military Wall of Honor.
