Rotary Senior
Pedro Michels has been selected Kenston’s Chagrin Valley Rotary Club Student of the Month in October. He maintains a 4.4 GPA.
In his sophomore year, Pedro received academic awards in mathematics, English and social studies and received the Hugh O’Brian Leadership Award, therefore being named as Kenston’s representative for the HOBY Seminar Program. As a junior he was awarded both the President’s Award for Educational Excellence and AP Scholar with Distinction.
Throughout his tenure at Kenston High School, he has dedicated much of his time to extracurricular memberships. He strived to grow collective interest in the Speech and Debate Team, which he has been a participant for four years. He is a member of National Honor Society, secretary of PACK and has worked alongside Mrs. Deborah Kramer in developing a new club called Cultures Without Border, whose goal is to help multi-ethnic and foreign exchange students assimilate into the community, discuss current events pertaining to immigration and inspire cultural awareness in the Kenston community.
Pedro is a member of the cross country team and tennis team and volunteers as a court-side regulator in Youth Orange Ball Tournaments, and in a youth running camp this summer.
His volunteerism goes outside of the district as he has devoted many hours of volunteer work at the Cleveland Clinic through the Junior Ambassador Program, and the pediatric section of the APAMI Oncology Center in Petrolina, Brazil. His love for playing the guitar has also encouraged him to help and mentor summer rock camps at Warren Henry Music.
He plans to attend college and major in statistics, business or political science with a double major or minor in French language.
