High School Receives New AED
Kenston High School was awarded by University Hospitals with a new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) as part of its AEDin3 program on Jan. 9. Athletic Director Reid Guarnieri and certified athletic trainer Viviani Deubel were present for the ceremony held at the Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute at the University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood. Dr. Flannery and Denzel Ward’s mother, Nicole Ward, presented Kenston High School with the AED.
AEDin3 is a program organized by Dr. Robert Flannery through an initiative funded by Denzel Ward of the Cleveland Browns and his Make Them Know Your Name Foundation (MTKYN). Fifteen area schools were selected to receive the AEDs with the goal of providing school programs with the ability to have a defibrillator accessible within three minutes at all of its athletic facilities.
“Our relationship with University Hospitals has been incredible, and we are especially thankful to have such an outstanding individual as Viviani representing UH in her faithful service to our athletic programs,” Guarnieri said. “We would like to thank Denzel and Nicole Ward and Dr. Flannery for selecting us as a recipient of the AEDin3 program. Kenston’s selection is clearly a testament to Viviani always making the extra effort to ensure the safety and well-being of our student-athletes.”
Mrs. Duebel would like to thank several Kenston High School students who assisted with the video that was included in the grant submission. Athletic training aid student Aly Stefancin, along with athletes Jad, Melhem, Sean Patrick and Calvin Stefancin.
