One hundred sixteen students at Kenston High School have earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program exams. Visit the district websitefor a complete list of students.
The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program offers students the opportunity to take challenging college-level courses while still in high school. In addition, they can receive college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP exams. About 18 percent of the more than 1.6 million high school students took AP exams and performed at a sufficiently high level to merit the recognition of AP Scholar.
Six National AP Scholars were honored for earning an average score of 4 or higher on a five-point scale on all AP exams taken and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.
Forty students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of the exams.
Twenty students qualified for AP Scholar with Honors Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of the exams.
Fifty students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP exams with scores of 3 or higher.
New Kenston Faculty
Kenston welcomes its new faculty members to the Kenston family. They filled positions created by retirements, resignations or extended leaves.
The district looks forward to the talents and dedication of the faculty and staff as they work to design lessons that are challenging, interesting and satisfying.
They are Jacqueline “Jackie” Schenkelberg, occupational therapist; Joseph Hritz, intermediate school physical education teacher; Danielle Bly, half-day kindergarten teacher; Jessica Henn, middle school art teacher; Abigail “Abby” Hamilton, part-time occupational therapist; Nicole Franchini, academic tutor; Alissa Bodner, middle school vocal music teacher; Margaret “Maggie” Colicchio, integrated science/biology teacher; Denise Pietrzak, part-time mental health consultant; and Katrina Kovalski, half-day kindergarten teacher.
Kenston Resource Officers
Kenston Schools and Bainbridge Police Department collaborated to implement a special police detail to the district last year. The Kenston Resource Officer (KRO) is a full-time safety detail with rotating officers that circulate in all buildings. On any given day, the assigned police officer monitors schools, strengthens the community by building relationships with students and assists with security planning and implementation.
Athletic Passes
Kenston High School Athletic Department is selling season passes for all home contests during the year except Kenston Invitational Tournaments, Western Reserve Conference Tournaments and Ohio High School Athletic Association sponsored events.
Student passes are $60. Adult passes are $80. A family package for two adults and two students can be purchased for $250. Family package holders may obtain additional student passes for $50.
