Speech and Debate Honored
The Kenston High School Speech and Debate team has earned significant recognition from the National Speech and Debate Association with induction in their prestigious 100 Club. This milestone demonstrates an outstanding commitment to teaching students essential life skills, including communication, research, listening, writing and organization.
Speech and Debate Update
Twenty-five middle and high school students from Kenston competed at the Mentor Speech and Debate tournament on Nov. 21.
Ella Jewell was named tournament champion in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, defeating opponents from Hawken, Beavercreek and North Carolina. The debate topic was whether there ought to be a national job guarantee. Senior Samantha Stephens placed fourth in Congressional Debate and Max Yost competed in his first tournament.
Competing against 32 teams in Public Forum Debate from the middle school were Aurora Young and Raegan Timmons placing fourth and William Radefeld and Nathaniel McIntosh placing ninth, both with a 3-1 record. Placing second this week were Kate Tobin in Interpretation and Marin Carlson in Declamation. In Oratory, Madelyn Foerster placed fifth, Gabriella Bates placed sixth, and Charles McBride placed seventh. Evan DeCourcey and Daniel Wilson competed in their first tournament, winning a debate against Centerville.
Timmons Lunch Bunch
Congratulations to Timmons Elementary School Students selected for Lunch Bunch honors in November. Kindergartners honored with “Gratitude” awards were Cassia Andrews, Grayson Franklin, Clara Gould, Valerie Lewandowski, Charlotte Moffat, Maura Moss, Vivian Seifried, Carter St. Clair and Sylvia Zuccaro. First-graders honored were Alexander Babulski, Regan Hudak, Isabella Kooyman, Emerson Kozel, Haven Mekhael, Camden Pealer, Ashton Stotter and Charlotte Thompson.
Second-graders were Avery Elsoffer, Emma Harris, Magnus Hasty, Mason Logozar, Cassidy Prather, Gavin Schrickel and Thomas Woodrum. Third-graders were Jaden Fox, Kaleb Hartfelder, Caden Hunter, Connor Jahn, Isaac May, Anna Richardson, Isabella Rinaldo, Finley Scharver and Esther Shindika.
