Little Shop of Horrors

Kenston Center Stage presents “Little Shop of Horrors” at 7 p.m. March 18-20. and a 2 p.m. for a matinee performance on Saturday in the Kenston High School Robert A. Lee Auditorium.

A meek and mild floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” after his coworker crush Audrey. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it blood. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out of this world origins and intent towards global domination. Throw in a greedy flower shop owner, an ill-intentioned dentist and some singing street urchins and this sci-fi classic finds its home at Kenston High School.

The cast, crew and orchestra are comprised of Josephine Bing, Dominic Blogna, Skylar Cinch, Molly Cohen, Victor Como, Peter Como, Audrey Cowan, Bobby Delzell, Leah Denno, Cayla DiBernardo, Hannah Fender, Grace Geisler, Jacob Gertsburg, Micah Greenberg, Ashley Handwerk, Patrick Keane, Jon King, Nya Ku, Justin Link, Mia Lioudis, Colin Mast, Ben Millard, Kylie Moore, Matthew Pierce, Becca Rengers, Carley Riggins, Cailey Rogers, Emily Rolf, Jackson Rosneck, Claire Rottman, Nick Sanchez, Sam Snyder, Aly Stefancin, Owen Stice, John Tatara, Lily Tatara, Adler Weber, Phillip Witmer-Rich and Charlotte Witmer-Rich.

Speech and Debate

The Kenston High School Speech and Debate Team placed 23rd at the state tournament, with the team’s second best finish in its 22-year history. Eden Truax placed seventh in Declamation. Samantha Stephens placed 13th in Congressional Debate while Micah Greenberg took 13th in Humorous Interpretation. Reaching quarterfinals were Colin Varga in Congressional Debate and Skylar Cinch in Humorous Interpretation.

KIS Students of the Month

Kenston Intermediate School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month for February. Students selected for “compassion” Student of the Month honors were fourth-graders Blakely Alfonso, Emerson Bargiel, Norah Bozarth, Morgan Cooley, Jackson Herbert, Gabrielle Kluesner, Amora Miller, Emma Scaccia, Grayson Smith, Will Szarka and Braiden Woodruff; and fifth-graders, Olivia Abraham, Eva Caires, Brooke Carlson, Alivia Coro, Isabella Kovalski, Lauren Marble, BellaRayne Moorhead, Luca Poudevigne, Careese Rice and John Zaranec.

Graduation Video Information

Graduation is quickly approaching. Kenston needs help gathering photographs of the members of the Class of 2021 during their Kenston school career, grades kindergarten through 12, to be released in conjunction with graduation. Please include photos of the student’s favorite Kenston moments such as the first days of school, the 100th day of kindergarten, Flat Stanley, International Festival, athletics or class trips.

There are two ways to submit photos. Email the digital images to graduation.video@kenstonapps.org with “Graduation Video Photos” in the subject line or bring paper photographs to school, drop them off in the Guidance Office with name and first block class on the envelope. Any pictures shared should include the student’s name printed on the back of each picture. Photos must be submitted by April 16.
