FIRST LEGO League
FIRST LEGO league teams had the opportunity to learn from the pros at the Rockwell Automation FLL team workshop last weekend. Students chose between beginner and advanced programming training sessions and went home with great experiences and new knowledge to share with their peers.
Third-Grade Spotlight
Miss Heller and Mrs. Coates make up the wonderful third-grade teaching team this year. Students are most excited about the new Nutrition Movement Time in the morning and their extended lunch period.
“Everyone loves the new Bridges in Mathematics program,” says Mrs. Coates. “Students have been working so well together in teams to play hands on games and to solve problems.”
Miss Heller also noted, “We have been working hard to incorporate STEM projects into all subject areas.”
The most important aspect of third grade is that they are one big family. Teachers and students get to collaborate on activities often and they are having a fun time learning together.
Geographic Information Systems Study
Eighth-graders utilized online technology to immerse themselves in the study of geographic information systems. Students worked with map layers from the ArcGIS living atlas database, analyzing data for possible relationships. Through inquiry learning, students searched for and analyzed data relevant to their questions and personal interests.
