Second-Grade Economists
Newbury Elementary School second-graders just culminated their economics unit with a goods and services project. Students had to create a business that either provides a service or sells a good.
During the month, the students earned Newbury “bucks” to spend at their Market Day. Some of the service stands that students set up on Service Street were to give manicures, hairdos, tattoos and massages. The Goods Avenue stores sold cupcakes, cookies, paper airplanes, books and origami.
It was a great hands-on experience where students learned about producers and consumers as well as goods and services.
