New Board Members Welcomed
The Newbury Local Schools welcomed David Lair and Terri Rice to the Newbury Schools Board of Education. Officially sworn in at the organizational meeting on Jan. 13, both Mr. Lair and Mrs. Rice are actively involved members of the Newbury Local Schools community.
Dave is a 1969 graduate of Newbury High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army, including a tour of duty in Vietnam, and earned degrees in business administration at the bachelor’s and master’s levels from Lake Erie College and John Carroll University, respectively. He lives in Newbury with his wife Landa.
According to Dave, “I am extremely honored to join the Newbury Board of Education, whose efforts over the past two years have enabled us to later this year join the highly rated West Geauga School District, providing our students with tremendous new opportunities and saving our residents significant tax dollars. I look forward as a board member working with our dedicated professional administrators to help ensure a positive transition for Newbury students and staff, as well as collaborating with the West Geauga Board of Education and local elected officials at the township and county level.”
Terri Rice is a 13-year resident of Newbury. She has two grown children who graduated from Newbury High School and are married with children of their own. Terri enjoys spending time with her family, including three grandchildren, two foster children and her husband of 30 years. As a participant on various boards in the past, Terri has experience in organizational leadership and is eager to put that experience to use for the board of Newbury Local Schools.
“I look forward to working together with the other board members, the community and the administration to do our very best in helping our students transition successfully to West Geauga Schools,” according to Terri.
Together, David Lair and Terri Rice officially join Mrs. Maggie Zock, Mr. Terry Sedivy and Mrs. Kimya Matthews to comprise the Newbury Board of Education. For more information, visit the district website at www.newburyschools.org.
