Six Newbury Junior High School students performed in the 2017 OMEA District VII Solo and Ensemble on April 8 at Memorial Junior High School in South Euclid. They are eighth-graders Anita Sarkisian, Greg Bullis and Elsa Morton and seventh-graders Autumn Airey and Maria Clarke.

OMEA Solo and Ensemble

Six Newbury Junior High School students performed in the 2017 OMEA District VII Solo and Ensemble on April 8 at Memorial Junior High School in South Euclid. They are eighth-graders Anita Sarkisian, Greg Bullis and Elsa Morton and seventh-graders Autumn Airey and Maria Clarke.

Anita, Greg and Autumn earned a “superior” rating on their vocal solos. Elsa Morton earned an “excellent” rating on her vocal solo. The vocal ensemble comprised of Maria, Autumn and Elsa received a “superior” rating for their performance.

 

COYC Honors Choir

Newbury High School students Niamh Field and Solielle Girmai were nominated to perform with the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus for their honors choir event on March 26 at Severance Hall in Cleveland.

Niamh and Solielle spent the day Saturday at Fairmount Temple in Beachwood, rehearsing with renowned conductor and composer Tesfa Wondemagegnehu. They then performed a full concert in Severance Hall on March 26 with the entire Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus and Honor Choir comprised of top vocal students from surrounding Cleveland area high schools.

 

Newbury Choir Concert

The choir students will be singing repertoire to be performed at the OMEA State Large Group Adjudicated Event that they qualified for in March. They will perform at State on April 28 at Highland High School in Medina at 9:30 p.m.
