Cleveland Clinic Summer Interns
In an intensely competitive application process, the Cleveland Clinic’s Office of Civic Education Initiatives has selected three NDCL students for the Clinic’s prestigious and highly competitive summer internship program.
Sophomore Madeline Spicer, who won a creative learning internship, will work with healthcare, arts and education professionals to design, develop and execute strategies for sharing groundbreaking medical research and important health information with the community at large.
Junior Danya MacDonald will interact and work with pulmonologists, allergists, immunologists, critical care specialists and researchers in various clinical settings. She will also observe therapists perform a variety of procedures, tests, treatments and prevention services.
Senior Cara Pannell, a public health intern, will join multidisciplinary teams of healthcare professionals specializing in public health, community medicine, infectious disease and organ donation and transplantation. Her mentors will include nationally renowned Cleveland Clinic physicians, public health professionals and researchers.
Eighteen NDCL students have been selected to participate in the Clinic’s program over the last four years. The Clinic’s intensive, paid internships provide top students throughout northeastern Ohio with the opportunity to work and learn alongside nationally renowned healthcare professionals in a variety of fields.

Living The Truth In Love
Eight students whose lives exemplify the NDCL mission statement have been honored with the school’s Living the Truth in Love Award. These model students are recognized for outstanding attributes and/or contributions in leadership, service and living Gospel values.
Recently, NDCL President Sr. Jacquelyn Gusdane presented personalized commemorative plaques to seniors Domenic Misiti and Mollie Zoul, juniors Tyler Sabath and Emily Slak, sophomores Jack Ina and Jacqueline Kresic and freshmen Timothy Cermak and Sofia DiCillo.
Each semester the members of the faculty and administration recommend two students from each grade level for the prestigious award. A selection committee makes the final determination of the winners.
“Presenting these awards is one of the greatest joys of my role as president of NDCL,” said Sr. Jacquelyn. “I am just so proud of these eight students — and all of our students and staff — for working so hard to make our mission come alive every day.”
The award winners’ names and photos will join those of previous Living the Truth in Love Award recipients in the school’s main corridor.
