Thanksgiving Feast
Preschool classes joined together for a Thanksgiving feast. The 3-year-old class represented the pilgrims, while the prekindergarten class represented the Native Americans.
The feast consisted of soup and bread. The soup they shared was the product of the children re-enacting the story of “Stone Soup,” a folktale in which townspeople each bring forth an ingredient to add to the pot.
Hands-On Day with Clay
It is an annual tradition for eighth-grade students to have a Day of Clay, where they spend the entire day working on creating a three-dimensional piece of art. After some initial planning, the students use slabs of clay to mold the clay into a pot, bowl or vase.
To detail their piece, many students carve special designs into their clay. After each piece is completed, it is fired and then glazed.
