Christmas Luncheon
“Feliz Navidad,” “Buon Natale” and “Joyeux Noel” were Christmas greetings overheard at the 29th annual Christmas luncheon on Dec. 4 that was themed “Christmas Around the World.” A wonderful parent partnership, hard work and dedication of many parent volunteers made the event a great success.
More than 400 people attended this longstanding tradition, which was emceed by Mr. Larry Morrow. All proceeds benefit the children of NDES.
The event was held at LaMalfa and offered a delicious lunch, Chinese auction with over 125 prizes and a 50/50 raffle. The centerpieces for the event were created by the students in art class. Please save the date for next year’s event, which will be held on Dec. 2.
Christmas Band Concert
On Dec. 4, students from NDES and St. Helen’s School held their Christmas band concert under the direction of Kevin Bell. It was a wonderful celebration to start the holiday season.
Band is an extracurricular opportunity for fourth through eighth-grade students.
Immaculate Conception Mass
Dec. 8 marked the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. As part of the preparation for Jesus’s birth, the NDES school family celebrates this holy day with a Mass in honor of the Blessed Virgin. During the Mass, a special prayer of Thanksgiving was offered for the country since Mary is also the patroness of the United States.
