Bishop Presides at School Mass
Bishop Lennon presided over Mass for the Notre Dame Elementary School community on Jan. 30 as a culmination to Catholic Schools Week and in celebration of being recognized as a 2014 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Bishop invited students to share what makes NDES such a special place. After Mass, Bishop Lennon spent time answering questions with junior high students.
Fourth-Graders Debate
Should schools do away with the honor roll? As a part of the ELA
curriculum, fourth-grade students meet each week with their debate teams to prepare talking points for their weekly class debate. Developing debating skills helps strengthen critical thinking and research and communication abilities, which are necessary in today’s world.
Cow’s Eye Dissection
Seventh-graders recently dissected cows’ eyes to study their anatomy. The hands-on activity allowed the students to dissect and view parts of the eye while using their iPads to reference specific eye parts functionality.
