Picturing Algebra

NDES eighth-grade math students designed and displayed algebraic expression posters. All posters were then viewed by different classes to analyze how each group exhibited patterns, rules and graphs for different situations. The teaching concept called Gallery Walk allows students a more in-depth understanding of algebraic concepts while reinforcing important collaboration skills.

Junior High Students Learn Java

NDES junior high students are learning to code in Java. Java is an object oriented programming language that allows students to execute a task through a sequence of programmed commands.

Through the interactive application developed by Khan Academy, students develop and improve logic and reasoning skills. Java also fosters and supports an interest in programming.
