Grants in Action

With the support of a $5,000 grant from the Dominion K12 Educational Partnership, NDES seventh-grade STEM students completed the year applying engineering principles to renewable energy production. Comparing and contrasting the effectiveness of different blades, students worked in teams and constructed different designs with balsa wood. All designs were tested using sensor technology and recording software.

Funds Raised for Rescue Village

As part of the Principal for a Day auction item at the NDES benefit, winners Jaiden and Jaxon Mangelluzzi planned many special activities. Among many of the events was a special service project raising money for Geauga Rescue Village. On May 16, a check was presented to Geauga Rescue Village.

Walkathon Raises $40,000

On May 16, NDES celebrated the seventh annual walkathon and Notre Dame Day. The day began with a pep rally and announcements made by the Walkathon Experience Winners and designers of the Walkathon T-shirt, Sydney and It’sabella Atkinson.

Students participated in field day activities, enjoyed a delicious lunch and dance party during recess. In the afternoon, students began the mile walkathon. The walkathon was a huge success with over 88 percent participation and over $40,000 raised by NDES students to support special programs at NDES.

Hughes Visits NDES

NDES kindergarten students received a visit from Cleveland Browns defensive lineman number 93, John Hughes. The exciting experience was auctioned off at the past annual NDES benefit. Mr. Hughes visited with students, shared a snack, read a story and autographed pictures.
