Thank you, Veterans
Mrs. Lindsay Montague’s class was busy the week of Nov. 6 preparing letters for the veterans at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland. The children wrote a rough draft and then received individual help from Mrs. Montague through the editing process. The end results were beautifully written and heartwarming letters to some veterans.
A couple of direct quotes include, “Take care of yourself and give your body what it needs,” “Even if you’re not feeling well, don’t give up” and “We are so thankful for all you’ve done for our country.”
Boston Harbor Teapot
Eighth-grade students took a trip to King’s Wharf in social studies class to explore what happened on Dec. 16, 1773. Students indulged in tea and cookies while examining articles and little-known facts about the Boston Tea Party which they then used to construct newspaper articles to tell fellow colonists what happened during the Boston Tea Party. As journalists, students also interviewed an eyewitness to the event and got their personal take on the British Crown’s harsh taxation and mercantilist policies.
