Season Of Lent

St. Helen School “buried” the Alleluia in church on Feb. 17, the day before Ash Wednesday. To mark the beginning of the season of Lent, students will attend Mass and receive ashes, participate in reflection and mission work to prepare for Easter.

Handwriting Contest

Congratulations to the following students who won the 24th annual Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest and were selected to represent St. Helen School in the state competition: Mykaela Cox, Daniel Joyce, Olivia Lewis, Lucy Joyce, Margaret Ruggeri, Mercedes Sustar, Kalea Percic, Joseph Barcikoski and Margaret Murray.

CYO Sportsmanship Award

St. Helen School sixth-grade boys basketball team was honored this past weekend at the Cleveland State University men’s basketball game with the CYO Sportsmanship Award. The Diocese of Cleveland Catholic Youth Organization awards the Sportsmanship Awards to those teams that exemplify extraordinary good sportsmanship and Christian values. The boys were presented with a plaque for the school to display and each were given certificates.

Team members are Brian Brent, Nick Brent, Julian Cicchella, Nick Guarniere, Dawson Lair, Anthony Ledbetter, Nate McInnerney, Andrew Watts, It’saac Williford and Jay Wolfe. They are coached by Matt Watts and Dave Lair.
