Fitness Camp
Students at St. Helen School are getting fit for the new school year. Physical education teacher Amy Hotchkiss is “shaping up her students” with outdoor activities utilizing scooters, playground equipment and even a water slide. The camp took place the four days before the students came to school for orientation on Aug. 19.
Sister Margaret, principal at St. Helen School, remarked, “How nice it is to hear the children’s laughter again.”
Sr. Margaret welcomed all students back to School on Aug. 22.
Amazing Test Results
Results of the spring 2016 English Language Arts and Algebra I tests administered to the eighth-grade students last May were sent home last week. Over half of the students scored in the Advanced or Accelerated range and 88 percent of the students were proficient or above. Congratulations and best wishes to the 2016 St. Helen School graduates as they begin their high school endeavors.
The state average for English Language Arts was 704; St. Helen School’s average was 724. The state average for Algebra I was 702; St. Helen School’s average was 730.
