Father Jay’s Birthday

On Oct. 4, students at St. Helen School gathered to celebrate their pastor’s birthday. Father Jay McPhillips’ 60th birthday was filled with many prayers and good wishes.

Students presented Fr. Jay with a card “thumb printed” by each student. The card was a winter scene and came with wishes for a great “skiing trip” and 60 chocolate kisses.

Pet Blessing

St. Helen School students and parishioners gathered together on Oct. 4 to celebrate the Feast of St. Francis. St. Francis is known for his love of nature and animals. A variety of animals, including a hamster, a frog, some chickens and a host of cats and dogs came for the annual pet blessing.

Following a brief prayer service, Fr. Jay McPhillips, pastor of St. Helen Parish, called each animal by name as he imparted his blessing.

Kindergartners Visit Farm

It was a beautiful autumn day in Geauga County for St. Helen kindergarten students to enjoy a day at Patterson Fruit Farm on Oct. 4. The students learned all about apples with the help of Mrs. Moyer, their guide at Patterson Fruit Farm.

Submitted St. Helen kindergartners recently enjoyed a day at Patterson Fruit Farm.
