D.A.R.E. Graduation

On Jan. 10, the sixth-grade class at St. Helen School celebrated the completion of the D.A.R.E. program conducted by Deputy Roy Lundstrom during the first semester of study. This completed Lundstrom’s 15th year at St. Helen School.

Father Jay McPhillips, pastor of St. Helen Parish, led the students in prayer and spoke about the importance of the D.A.R.E. program. Guest speakers for the graduation were officers from the Geauga County Sheriff’s Department, including deputy Travis Goodwin, deputy Greg Borden and K-9 officer Argo.

KOC Free Throw Competition

Students ages 9-14 participated in the free throw competition sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Each student had the opportunity for 10 free throws. Students with the top scores will participate in the regional competition.

Students Visit Maltz Museum

On Dec. 12, sixth-grade students witnessed the common threads of Judaism and Christianity at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage. Students learned about the Jewish faith as they studied the Old Testament and read “Number the Stars.” They appreciated a lecture and guided tour at the museum.
