St. Helen Supports Zelie’s Home
The seventh- and eighth-grade students at St. Helen School have been hard at work serving others through a meaningful partnership with Zelie’s Home, an organization dedicated to supporting young mothers and their children with love, dignity and hope.
During the holiday season, the junior high sponsored a diaper and wipe drive to help meet one of the home’s most basic and ongoing needs. Through daily school announcements, handmade posters and plenty of enthusiasm, students filled an entire van with donations. They also used money raised during the fall change drive to purchase gifts for the moms at the school’s annual Santa Shop, making sure the mothers themselves felt seen, appreciated and loved.
Inspired by the students’ generosity, the St. Helen parish community joined in as well, with parishioners participating in a coat drive led by the Knights of Columbus that collected more than 160 winter coats.
