West G Welcomes New EMIS Coordinator
Mr. Ian M. Cooper has joined the West Geauga Board Office staff as the district’s new Education Information Management System (EMIS) coordinator. EMIS is a data collection system for Ohio’s primary and secondary students.
Mr. Cooper was EMIS coordinator for the East Cleveland City School District, where he established a reputation for EMIS expertise statewide. The Coopers reside in Newbury Township.
West Geauga Superintendent Rich Markwardt said of Cooper, “We are fortunate that we were able to find someone with Mr. Cooper’s knowledge and experience to coordinate our student data collection system. EMIS affects a host of issues related to student achievement and district funding. Mr. Cooper is one of Ohio’s best.”
OSBA Fall Conference Honors Area Schools
The Ohio School Boards Association recognized several area schools at its Northeast Region Fall Conference on Oct. 4.
Among those honored as Momentum Award Schools were three from Geauga County, including Robert C. Lindsey Elementary School (West Geauga), Westwood Elementary School (West Geauga) and West Geauga Middle School.
Other area schools receiving the award were Aurora High School, Chagrin Falls High School, Hudson Middle School, Mayfield High School, Orange High School and Solon High School.
