Back to School
A new school year is underway at West Geauga. The buildings were busy leading up to the first day of class with many events to welcome staff and students back to campus. The district opened the doors for Staff Convocation Day, Westwood Kindergarten Kickoff and returning student open house, Lindsey Open House to welcome new and returning students, sixth-grade Conquer Your Locker, ninth-grade open house, fall sports Meet the Teams Night and Senior Sunrise Breakfast. It has been a great start to the year for the Wolverines.
Sixth-Grade Field Trip
West Geauga sixth-graders went on their annual Geauga Learn field trip to the Great Geauga County Fair. The day was filled with educational exhibits, animals and lunch, along with fun and friendship. The culminating event of the day was the annual Chicken Flying Contest. While West Geauga did not come out on top this year with the farthest chicken flight, students had a great time being ringside chanting their support and showing school spirit.
West Geauga Marching Band
All of Northeast Ohio had the opportunity to enjoy music from the West Geauga Marching Band as it performed live on Fox 8 News “Kickin’ it With Kenny.”
An article with a link to the Fox 8 website that shows videos of the performance may be found under the News section of the district’s website: www.westg.org.
Rock the Block
The Wolverine spirit was strong at the first annual Rock the Block community tailgate party. Students, parents, staff and members of the community came together for an evening of fun on the West Geauga High School campus prior to football kickoff under the lights at Howell Field. The event included various food trucks, bounce houses, face painters, games, West Geauga marching band, cheerleaders and the Wolverine mascot. Thank you to everyone who came and to those who volunteered their time to make the event a success.
